Where to Have a Picnic Near Your Edmonton Apartment This Spring

Now that spring is in full bloom, eating lunch indoors almost feels like a missed opportunity. After all, you could be sitting outside enjoying that meal among the freshly cut green grass and the colourful flowers. Dust off your picnic basket and check out a location on this roundup of the area's best picnic spots, like the University of Alberta Botanic Garden.

The botanic garden boasts 190 acres of natural space, from the Butterfly House to the Kurimoto Japanese Garden. Nearby at Borden Park, hunt for the stunning round pavilion, really more like a massive sculpture,  covered entirely in large mirrors. If you want to do some people-watching while you eat, bring your basket to the Alberta Legislature Grounds, where the array of pretty water features draw crowds around lunchtime.
